Our pioneering journey
The Ballarat Ranch Horse Association proudly stands as Australia's first dedicated ranch horse club. Formed in 2019 by a group of like-minded individuals, all deeply passionate about the ranch horse discipline, our club has grown significantly. Over the past seven years, we've had the privilege of introducing many to the world of ranch horsemanship, and they too have fallen in love with the sport.
What we offer
We're dedicated to fostering skill and community through various activities. We offer regular club days, guided by our knowledgeable volunteers, and host clinics with professional trainers to help you hone your abilities. Our shows feature a full program of events, ranging from reining, trial, ranch riding and conformation classes. Our exciting next chapter includes building another arena, which will allow us to run cattle events in the future.
Our mission and vision
Our main goal is to introduce as many people as possible to what ranch riding entails. From dry events that cover patterns, obstacles, and led classes, to the exciting cattle events like roping, boxing, cutting, and cow work. We hope that others will fall in love with the way of the ranch horse and come to appreciate how special these horses are. The variety of skills needed to compete across all classes in a ranch show is what makes these horses truly exceptional.

We currently have a small, dedicated committee willing to go the extra mile for its members. We are welcoming and inclusive of all, and the beauty of ranch riding is that your horse does not need to be registered and can be of any breed.
